Andy Kuper
Forming partnerships across business and citizen sectors to address global challenges
Dr. Andy Kuper brings a global perspective and deep knowledge to the most pressing debates of our age. He has authored two books, Democracy Beyond Borders (Oxford) and Global Responsibilities: Who Must Deliver on Human Rights? (Routledge), establishing him as a thought-leader on democracy, human rights, and innovations in poverty relief.
He brings his expertise to Ashoka as the Managing Director for Strategic Partnerships. Andy leads our partnerships with global corporations such as McKinsey & Co. in North America and Africa. He also leads the Business Social Bridge practice group, which distills best practice from Ashoka’s many cross-sector partnerships, to build new bridges to impact.
Prior to joining Ashoka, Andy wrote his PhD at Cambridge and Harvard Universities on globalization and democracy. He served on the faculty of Trinity College, Cambridge, and co-founded the Cambridge Gender Center. He later founded the Empire and Democracy Project at the Carnegie Council, which he ran during the build-up to the conflict in Iraq.
Andy also advises and lectures to multinational corporations, media groups, citizen organizations, academia, and government. He has co-authored articles and reports with leaders such as Nobel-Laureate Joseph Stiglitz and war crimes prosecutor Justice Richard Goldstone.
Andy is pushing forward the theory and practice of innovation across sectors, changing the way we address our most urgent challenges.
